Matthew Boulton’s Medal for Trafalgar 1805, white metal, named in reverse field (William Selby, Victory) sometime fitted with suspension and now contained in gilt framed watch case with suspension loop, corrosion to edge affecting parts of inscription, otherwise about very fine £1500-2000
William Selby was a native of Dorset who joined H.M.S. Victory on 11 May 1803, aged 21 years, and served aboard her at the battle of Trafalgar as an Ordinary Seaman. Along with much of the crew of Victory, he was discharged to the newly built Ocean on 15 January 1806, and did not live to claim his Naval General Service Medal.
