William Henry James Turner was born at Worthing, Sussex, on 18 March 1899, and joined the Royal Marine Light Infantry at Brighton, Sussex, on 12 July 1916. He was discharged on the termination of the second period of engagement on 17 March 1938, but was remobilised on the outbreak of the Second World War. he died on 24 April 1970.
