Victoria Cross Recipient’s Silver Sports Trophy Eton 1905, an octagonal shaped cup with similar base hall marked London 1789 but given as an award at various times, first competed for in 1901, the initial engraving indicates it was the House Sports Challenge Cup won in 1907 by Neville Bowes Elliott-Cooper who subsequently won the VC, DSO, MC and as Lieut. Col. 8th Battalion Royal Fusiliers he died in a Prisoner of War Camp in 1918. Other winners include Sir Eugen Millington-Drake involved in the Olympic Delegations of 1936 and 1948 and Sir Harold Peake KB Air Commodore, he subsequently presented this trophy to King Edward’s Grammar School in 1947 for the All Round Athlete of the Year, the final recipient appears to be C.R. Pitts 1978. The cup retains its silver gilt inner finish and is in good overall condition
