Brian Herbert Williams was born on 7 December 1920. In 1939 he was an undergraduate at university and his father, Owen Williams, was a Professor of Surgery at Liverpool University. He was commissioned from Bombardier to 2nd Lieutenant in the Indian Army in July 1941. He transferred to the Royal Artillery as an Acting Captain in May 1947 (seniority December 1943). Promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in November 1959 and Brevet Colonel in November 1962. Colonel Williams died on 25 May 1993.

With cloth and metal insignia and also with a pewter tankard, inscribed, ‘Presented to Col. B. H. Williams, T.D. R.A.(T.A.) by the W.O’s & Sgts 359 Regiment R.A.(T.A.) 31st Oct. 1962’. With copied gazette extracts.
