Private W. J. Edkins, Warwickshire Yeomanry, entered the Egyptian theatre of war on 11 April 1915. Later served in the Military Mounted Police. With copied m.i.c.
Elements of the Warwickshire Yeomanry as part of the 5th Mounted Brigade, took part in what is claimed to be the last charge made by British cavalry at Huj, in Palestine, 8 November 1917. The charge made against rearguard Turkish, German and Austrian forces resulted in the capture of 11 artillery pieces and and 4 machine guns.
