William Thomas Warner was born in Great Yarmouth on 29 July 1860. A Cooper by trade, he entered the Royal Navy as Cooper’s Crew on 19 May 1885. He was appointed Cooper in February 1890 when on H.M.S. Excellent. He was pensioned ashore in June 1907. Recalled for service in the Great War, he served as Cooper aboard the M.F.A. Pekin, October 1914-November 1919. For his services aboard the vessel he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (London Gazette 21 June 1919).
