Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R., 1st issue (49939 Q.M. Sjt. N. Sumner, R.A.M.C.) good very fine £80-100
Norman Sumner, a Clerk, living in Warrington, enlisted into the R.A.M.C. in January 1915, aged 22 years, 3 months. He served in France, 30 April 1915-7 November 1918. As a Quartermaster Serjeant in the R.A.MC. he was mentioned in despatches (Haig) (London Gazette 24 December 1917) and awarded the M.S.M. for service in France (London Gazette 17 June 1918). Transferred to Class ’Z’ Reserve on 25 February 1919. With copied service papers, m.i.c. and gazette extracts.
