A pair of Crimea War envelopes of cavalry interest, including one associated with Mrs. Fanny Duberly, wife of the Paymaster of the 8th Hussars:

This inscribed by her ‘England via Marseilles’ and addressed to her sister, ‘Mrs. Mark, Oclebury, Arlesford, Hampshire’, and endorsed ‘Lt. Cavalry Camp, Crimea’, the reverse with her red wax seal and British Army Post Office stamp in black, and Arlesford transit stamp in blue

The second envelope sent by Assistant Surgeon O. B. Miller, 11th Hussars, inscribed by him ‘England via Marseilles’ and addressed to ‘Mrs. Miller, 24 Upper Gloster Street, Dublin, Ireland’, and endorsed ‘O.B.M., XI Hussars, Crimea’, the reverse with his red wax seal and British Army Post Office stamp in blue

Mrs. Fanny Duberly spent the entire Crimea campaign with her husband’s regiment, the 8th Hussars, and was famously photographed by Roger Fenton; the letter which was was despatched in the above described envelope is today held at the British Library, with much of her correspondence.
