South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1879 (1771 Actg. Condr. J. O’Neill, 2/4th Foot), very fine £340-380
John O’Neill was born in Cork in December 1851 and enlisted in King’s Own Regiment in May 1869. Embarked for South Africa in December 1878, he was appointed an Acting Conductor in May 1879 and saw action in the Zulu War, including the Battle of Ulundi (Medal & clasp). His final appointment was a Lieutenant and Quarter-Master in the Royal Lancaster Regiment and he was placed on the Retired List in April 1895; sold with copied research.
