Roman Imperial Coinage, Domitian (as Cæsar), Denarius, (?) Rome, c. 80, laureate bust right, caesar avg p domitianvs cos vi, rev. trp viiii imp xv cos vii pp, bound captive kneeling below trophy, 2.45g (RSC –; RIC –). About very fine, extremely rare, the combination of dies apparently unrecorded £100-150
The reverse type and legend are known with the head of Titus (RSC 295; RIC 17) but seem to be unpublished with Domitian on the obverse. The light weight and slightly errant style suggest this coin may be irregular in some way, perhaps a contemporary forgery
