The Onchan camp consisted of 60 buildings which were requisitioned in May 1940. The camp initially held interned Germans and Austrians, then after September 1940 was exclusively for Italians. These tokens, struck by J.R. Gaunt in Birmingham, were first issued in the Camp on 7 October 1940 (Alan Cope, TCSB September 2002, pp.126-7; Alan Kelly, pers. comm.)
