Thomas Jarman was born in Stratford-by-Bow, Essex and enlisted at Brighton on 31 August 1914. Serving with the Royal Sussex Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 December 1915. Serving with the 7th Battalion, he was killed in action at Orvillers, during the battle of the Somme, on 7 July 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
