William Trueman enlisted on 29 October 1906. Serving with the 2nd battalion K.R.R.C., he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. Served in the 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Division, in Haig’s I Army Corps. Fought at Troyon, 14 September 1914 in the assault on Chemin-des-Dames on the Aisne River, and then in the heroic action at Gheluvelt on 31 October 1914 where there were only 150 survivors from the 2nd Battalion K.R.R.C. Trueman was discharged due to wounds on 21 May 1916 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied roll extract and m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
