Harry James White, who was born in 1885, originally enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment in November 1915. Subsequently transferring to the Machine Gun Corps, he served as a Vickers’ gunner in ‘D’ Company, 41st Battalion, M.G.C., from September 1916, and was awarded his M.M. in respect of gallant deeds at Ypres in August 1917. White was transferred to the Army Reserve in August 1919; sold with an original photographic postcard, depicting the recipient and four comrades from the 41st Battalion, M.G.C., together with copied Great War period documents and photographs.
