Alexander Cameron served in the 3rd Volunteer Service Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders during the Boer War. In the 8th Battalion he was awarded the T.F.E.M. in 1914. In the same regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 1 May 1915. Later served in the Labour Corps and was transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 9 March 1919.
