73rd Bengal Native Infantry a Grenadier Company Officer’s ‘Wing’ Epaulette c. 1830 - 1857 a very rare example made up of triple gilt rings with gold bullion fringe central ornament in raised gilt bearing a silver fused grenade within gilt laurel sprays, finial button displays ‘73’ with ‘Regiment’ on the surrounding strap all within laurel sprays, lined with red cloth and retaining part of the original tie through ribbons, some of the bullion fringes with slight damage and some of the perimeter silver lace missing, the fused grenade with slight dent to the ball, the gilt rings in good condition and the bullion requires careful professional cleaning £200-300
Note: The 73rd Regiment was formed in 1824 from the former 5th Extra Battalion it was disbanded in 1857.
