Notes with the lot state that Private First Class Gilbert van Every, 506th Parachute Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, arrived in England on 15 September 1943. Took part in the Normandy D-Day air assault on 6 June 1944. Served at the battle for Carentan, 8-12 June, before returning to England on 13 July. He then took part in the air assault on Nijmegen/Eindhoven bridges as part of the Operation Market Garden on 17 September 1944. Served in Bastogne, 19 December 1944-9 January 1945.
With photocopied research. With riband bar; commendation bar; Combat Infantry Badge; Senior Parachutist’s Badge; orange lanyard; with cloth and metal patches and emblems all for display purposes. A note with the lot states that the unnamed D.S.C. was for display purposes.
