James Gardener Macintyre was born c.1927, and was employed as a Pharmacist in Kenya, where he lived with his wife, Sonja Maria Macintyre. They are recorded as having made a return voyage to the U.K. aboard the S.S. Rhodesia Castle. Disembarking in London on 13 August 1954, their intended place of residence was given as 77 Ewing Street, Rutherglen, Glasgow, Scotland.

Both medals with named card boxes of issue; that for Kenya also with forwarding slip and damaged registered envelope, both bearing the address, ‘Schoolhouse, Braidwood, Carluke, Scotland’.
