Arthur Frederick Sutton, who was born in March 1891, served for 16 years in the ranks, and another 8 years as a Warrant Officer, prior to being appointed a Superintending Clerk, R.E. in August 1930. For his wartime services he was mentioned in despatches and awarded the M.S.M., Romanian Medal for Hardihood and Loyalty and the French Medal of Honour with swords in silver. Sutton retired as a Captain and Quartermaster and died in August 1945, aged 55 years. With copied gazette extracts and m.i.c. - the latter showing entitlement to the clasp to the 1914 Star.
