Waterloo 1815 (William Thomson, 7th Regiment Hussars) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, slight edge bruise, good very fine £1400-1800
William Thomson was born in the Parish of St. Andrew’s, County Durham, and enlisted into Captain Robbin’s Troop of the 7th Hussars on 6 May 1796, aged 18 years. During the Waterloo campaign he served in Captain Edward Wildman’s Troop. The regiment, commanded by Colonel Edward Kerrison, formed part of the 5th Cavalry Brigade, commanded by Major-General Sir Colquhoun Grant. Thomson served until 7 November 1816 when he was discharged due to ‘impaired constitution and rheumatic pains’. With copied discharge papers and other research.
