Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Java (George Henny, 69th Foot.) edge bruise, otherwise better than very fine £1400-1600

George Henny/Henney was born in the Parish of Trentham, Staffordshire, and enlisted into the 69th Foot at Silver Hill, Sussex, on 24 October 1803, a Shoe Maker by trade, aged 20 years. He served in the East Indies from July 1805 to June 1824, including the capture of Java in 1811 and the storming of Capauldroog on 10 May 1819, on which occasion he was wounded through the knees. He was discharged from India at Wallajahbad on 28 August 1823, his final discharge being confirmed at Horse Guards on 3 July 1824. Sold with copied discharge papers.
