Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant William Henry Dickinson, Hertfordshire Imperial Yeomanry was awarded the Imperial Yeomanry L.S. & G.C. by A.O. 27 of February 1905. Following the outbreak of the Great War he was granted a commission as Temporary Lieutenant in the A.S.C. on 6 February 1915, and a few days later, on 19 February, was granted the Temporary rank of Captain. Dickinson served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force and was mentioned in the despatch of General Sir Edmund Allenby (London Gazette 16 January 1918). Served as Acting Major, A.S.C., 1918-19. Again mentioned in Allenby’s despatch (London Gazette 5 June 1919) and awarded the O.B.E. for his military services in Egypt (London Gazette 3 June 1919). Temporary Captain Dickinson, O.B.E. relinquished his commission on 18 June 1921 and was granted the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. With some copied research.
