Indian Police Medal, G.VI.R, for Meritorious Service (Frederick Crossley, Inspr. of Police, U.P.) in case of issue, nearly extremely fine £200-300
I.P.M. The Gazette of India 1 January 1947. Frederick Crossly (note different spelling) Reserve Inspector (Retired) Aligarh United Provinces.
Information received from a relative of the above, states that the medal was awarded as a consequence of Crossley’s intervention in an attack on an official of the Raj. In protecting the official Crossley, suffered a slashed cheek resulting in a permanent scar.
Frederick Crossley, then a retired Indian Police Officer, aged 56 years, married Margaret Clark, aged 29 years, at the Paddington Registry Office on 8 March 1950. With certified copy of the marriage certificate and a photograph of the couple.
