Arthur Wills first entered the French theatre of war in early November 1915, as a Private in the 12th Battalion, Royal Scots, but was awarded his M.M. in respect of his subsequent services as a Sergeant in the 8th Battalion, Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was also the recipient of the Silver War Badge (0/3587/2).
