Early 19th Century Campaign Type Writing Box. A fine quality example in brass bound mahogany 32 x 20.5 x12.5cm. Part only interior comprising two heavy glass containers one with ornate HM silver fastening (London 1840), a pen tray with two ‘drop-in’ leather boxes both with gilt handles and gold blocked with ‘INK’ and ‘LIGHT’ plus coronets, supplied by ‘Bery’s’. Two further HM silver bottle tops (London 1818), the lock marked ‘J. Bramah Patent’, key present. Marked overall with the engraved crest of the Burrowes Family, Stradone House, Co. Cavan, Ireland. A period note from Tomas Cosby Burrowes thanking his grandmama for the five shillings etc., a small crack in the wooden lid otherwise in good condition £200-300
