The Musgrave medals have been awarded since 1897 to selected persons for achievements in the fields of literature, art and science and are named in honour of the Institute’s founder. Mostly awarded in silver, gold was introduced in 1941. Theodore Eustace Sealy (1909-2001) was a distinguished journalist and former editor-in-chief of the Jamaica Gleaner. In 1955 he was chairman of the Jamaica tercentenary celebrations, for which he was appointed CBE
