George Brown Jardine was born in 1887. A Miner by occupation, he attested for the D.L.I. on 28 September 1914, aged 28 years. With the 6th Battalion he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 19 April 1915. Awarded the Military Medal for his bravery in action. Later transferred to the Army Service Corps. Discharged due to sickness on 14 December 1918 and awarded the Silver War Badge. Additionally awarded the 1915-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals and two blue chevrons.
