Sidney Waite was born and lived in Bishops Cannings, Wiltshire and enlisted at Devizes. Serving in the 6th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 20 September 1917, aged 39 years. He was buried in the Bedford House Cemetery, Zillebeke, Belgium. His name is also commemorated on the Bishops Cannangs War Memorial. He was the youngest son of Edwin Waite, of Bishops Cannings.
