Charles Revill was born in Newark, Nottinghamshire and was a Labourer by occupation. He attested for the 45th Regiment on 18 June 1823, aged 21 years. He volunteered for the 39th Regiment in November 1837. Served in the East Indies for over 20 years. Served in Ava in 1825; present in the action at Zorapoor (?) in 1839 and at the battle of Maharajpoor, 29 December 1843. Was in possession of three good conduct badges when discharged as unfit on 1 October 1844. With copied discharge papers.
