Pair: Driver D. McMullen, Royal Field Artillery, who died of wounds on 12 October 1917.

Daniel McMullen was born in Carlisle in 1892. Served as a Cadet on the training ship Wellesley at North Shields. Served in the Merchant Navy, being finally ranked as an Able Seaman, 1908-May 1915. McMullen then entered the army, becoming a Driver with the Royal Field Artillery. As a Shoeing-Smith serving with the 92nd Brigade, R.F.A., he died of wounds on 12 October 1917 and was buried in the Dozinghem Military Cemetery, West Vlaanderen, Belgium. He was the son of Mrs C, McMullen, of 6 Reed Street, South Shields.
Sold with a number of original documents: Board of Trade Continuous Certificate of Discharge; five other Certificates of Discharge; National Health Insurance Book; slip to accompany the war medals; a letter to ‘Dan’, from ‘M. Cunningham of Whitehaven, dated 21 September 1917; photographs (3) - one of his mother?, Catherine McMullen; one a group photograph of ‘Wellesley’ cadets; another of ‘Murray’s Rough Riders; also with newspaper clippings.
