Stephen Radcliff was appointed Ensign in the 6th Foot on 20 July 1810. He served in the Peninsula from November 1812 until April 1814 and was present at the battles of Vittoria and the Pyrenees, crossing of the Bidassoa, battles of Nivelle and Orthes, and at Bordeaux in 1814. He was wounded in the action at Maya Pass, Pyrenees, on 25 July 1813, was promoted to Lieutenant in September 1813 and placed on half pay on 16 April 1817.
