Expedition to La Rochelle, 1628, a silver medal by N. Briot, equestrian portrait right, rev. crowned oval garnished shield dividing date, 14.69g (Bull 467; SCBI Brooker 1258, same dies; MI I, 252/32; N 2673). Good very fine, toned, very rare £800-1,000
These pieces, traditionally described as patterns for a halfcrown by Nicholas Briot because their weight would suggest such an attribution, are now thought to refer to the second La Rochelle expedition on account of the reverse legend
