Private James Harris, 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts. & Derby Regiment) was killed in action at Chemin des Dames, on 20 September 1914, aged 33 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial, France. He was the husband of Hilda Barker (formerly Harris) of 52 Elm Tree Avenue, Victory Road, Normanton, Derbyshire.

Harris was one of four officers and 44 other ranks of the regiment killed on that day. With copied research.
