Alexander Frederick Alexander Down was born in Devonport, 19 October 1902. He entered the Royal Navy as a Boy Artificer on 4 January 1918. Based at Fisgard (Portsmouth) until 1922. After service on the battleships Royal Oak and Royal Sovereign, 1922-23 he spent a number of years in the submarine service. Later awarded the long service medal serving aboard the destroyer Firedrake. With copied service paper.

William Henry Halsall was born in Portsmouth on 23 September 1900. He entered the Royal Navy as a Boy Artificer in September 1918. Appointed an E.R.A. 2nd Class in 1928. With copied service paper.
