Board of Trade Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea, V.R., large, silver (Charles Holm, Wreck of the "Glendower" on the 12th January 1899) pierced at 12 o'clock for suspension, some contact marks, good very fine £280-320

Quartermaster Charles Holm of the steamship Menominee, of Glasgow, was one of 13 awarded the Board of Trade Gallantry Medal in Silver with a gratuity of £2, for his part in the rescue of the crew of the steamship Glendower, of Leith, on 12 January 1899. The Second and Third Mate of the Menominee were each awarded the Medal in Silver and a binocular glass. Holm was additionally awarded the Lloyd's Medal for Saving Life at Sea in Bronze for this rescue.
