Henry Thompson was born in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. A Groom by occupation, he attested for the Imperial Yeomanry at Belfast on 28 December 1899. He served with the 45th (Belfast) Company 13th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa, 3 March 1900-7 June 1901. He was taken prisoner at Lindley, 31 May 1900 but later released. He was discharged at Belfast on 15 June 1901 at the termination of his period of engagement. With copied service notes.
