An antique cabinet, 26 x 26 x 33mm, comprising 24 trays single-pierced for coins of various sizes, bottom drawer, double doors (slightly damaged), lock (no key), ink inscription on back ‘The back of this Cabinet is part of a beam taken from beneath the floor of the Pointed Chamber, being part of the original wood used in the Building in the reign of Edward the Confessor, and…by permission of the Honble. Commissioners of his Majesty’s…and Forests…Thursday October 10, 1834. F. Doubleday, 32 Russell Street, London’. Good condition; doors inset with a copy of a bronze medallion of Commodus with Britannia seated £400-500

The inscription refers to the first Houses of Parliment
