D. R. L. Wilcocks enisted in late 1983/early 1984. In 1989 he was listed as a member of the Band. As such, in the Gulf War, he was attached to Dressing Station 1 Bravo - a medical dressing station attached to the artillery. Post-war Wilcock entered training with the Royal Navy Gun Team. In 1992 the 4th/7th Dragoon Guards and 5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards were amalgamated to form the Royal Dragoon Guards; the same year Wilcock was promoted to Lance-Corporal.
