Thomas Frederick Moore served in France from mid-June 1916 until late September 1916, and again from May 1917 until the end of the War.
The 1/20th (Blackheath and Woolwich) Battalion, London Regiment arrived on the Somme in late August 1916, and carried out a successful attack on High Wood on 15 September, bombing down the German trenches and clearing the wood entirely - at a cost of 268 casualties. Having then participated in further actions on the Flers Line, the Battalion was entrained for Ypres in October.
