M.S.M. London Gazette 3 June 1919. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered in connection with military operations with the Forces in East Africa’.
David Richard Hendry attested as a Driver in the South African Service Corps (Mechanical Transport) on 8 September 1916. He served with the South African forces based at Zomba, Nyasaland. He was assigned to Limbe from November 1917 and remained there until January 1919 when he returned to South Africa. Promoted to Corporal in May 1918 and Sergeant in September 1918.
