Burns refers to this rare variety in the text as having been first published by Lindsay (pl. iv, 94) but does not illustrate an example himself, Although Stewart (1967) assigned to the third coinage, Mrs Joan Murray commented that, taking the weight of known specimens into consideration, it may belong just before May 1366 and the Act which reduced the weight of the coinage
