Thomas Cockerill was born in Hannelly and enlisted at Rugby. Serving with the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Light Infantry, he died of wounds on 25 August 1915, aged 36 years. He was buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery. He was the husband of Nellie Cockerill, of 49 Blakeney Road, Crookes, Sheffield.
