George Noel Bower was born in Heighton, Norwich on 25 December 1884. Eductated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, he gained a B.A. in 1906. He entered the Indian Civil Service in October 1907 and was employed in the Imperial Customs Service. Serving in the Bombay Light Horse he was awarded the Volunteer Force Long Service Medal, published in I.A.O. 299 of May 1926. Later with the Calcutta Light Horse he was awarded the Efficiency Medal (India), published in I.A.O. 536 of June 1938. He retired from the Imperial Customs Service in December 1939 and died at Station Road, Garage Eye, Suffolk, on 12 March 1951. With copied research.
