Bradbury, H., Specimens of Bank Note Engraving &c &c &c, London, 1860, includes full proof plates for Bank of Scotland (One Hundred Pounds), Bank of England (Ten and One Hundred Pounds), Banco Brazil (Ten Milreis, 3 different designs), Banco Maua & Cia, Rosario (One Onza de Oro and Two Pesos), etc, second free endpaper inscribed ‘With Henry Bradbury’s Compliments, April 27, 1860’. Red leather, gilt embossing on front and back, all edges gilt; repair to title page and the ribbed spine rebound, otherwise fully intact and very rare £3,000-4,000

Two specimen plates only illustrated; the binding is illustrated on DNW’s website. All the plates in this work were engraved by William Bradbury and Frederick Mullet Evans, who had founded their printing firm, Bradbury & Evans, in 1830. The company purchased Punch in 1841 and later published work for Charles Dickens and William Thackeray
