Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 4 clasps, Suakin 1884, El-Teb, The Nile 1884-85, Abu Klea (384 Pte. W. Edwards, 1/R. Suss. R.) edge bruise and pitting from star, otherwise very fine £700-800

8 officers and 247 other ranks of the Royal Sussex Regiment served on the Nile and fought at Abu Klea, in addition to which 2 officers and 25 other ranks served in the Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment at Abu Klea.

Private William Edwards was one on the small Mounted Infantry detachment from the Royal Sussex Regiment at Abu Klea. His combination of clasps appears to be regimentally unique.
