Sold with a copy of The History of the Locally Raised 20th (Service) Battalion The Durham Light Infantry - in a worn and repaired state, the cover inscribed in ink '... E. Best, Chilton Lane, Ferry......' In it is pasted a forwarding slip for the M.M., dated 24 April 1919. Private E. Best is listed as having been awarded his M.M. for the battle at Messines Ridge, June 1917. Also with a card of appreciation to Edwin Best, on the occasion of him leaving the Department of the Chief Inspector of Armaments, Ammunition; having been employed there, 27 January 1942-11 August 1945. With Army Orders extract listing the M.M.
