Edgar Howard Spindler was born in January 1899 and served in the ranks for 22 years, before being commissioned into the Royal Signals as a Technical Officer (Telecommunications) in 1938, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1951 and retiring in July 1953.
