Louis Creed was born in Bethnal Green and enlisted in the Rifle Brigade direct from the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, in January 1900, aged 18 years. Posted to the 1st Battalion in South Africa in January 1900, he went on to win entitlement to the above described Medal & clasps, the combination of dated ones being unusual to the Rifle Brigade. Returning to the U.K. in October 1902, Creed was transferred to the Army Reserve in January 1903 and was finally discharged in January 1912.
