‘There was an interesting ceremony in the Committee Room at Lloyd’s yesterday, when presentations were made to the captain and several officers of the steamer Fifeshire, belonging to Messrs. Turnbull, Martin & Co., in recognition of the conspicuous gallantry displayed by them in rescuing the crew of the American ship Patrician on the occasion of the abandonment of that vessel during a heavy gale in August last. The Fifeshire, when she fell in with the Patrician was on a voyage from Sydney to New Zealand’ (Ref. The Shipping Gazette, reprinted in L.S.A.R.S.J.
