Leading Seaman Robert Puttock, R.N., H.M.S. Audacious was awarded the Royal Humane Society Medal in bronze for a successful rescue effected at Hakodate Harbour, Japan on 27 September 1886 (Ref. R.H.S. Case No. 23,391) and awarded a Second Award clasp as Captain of the Mast aboard H.M.S. Audacious, for a rescue at Hong Kong on 7 February 1888. In the latter rescue, a bronze medal was also awarded to Lieutenant C. W. P. Allen, R.N., H.M.S. Audacious (Ref. R.H.S. Case No. 23,906).
